Building of High-Tech-Rafts in a Team on the River Iller

Although the Iller (a German river near Oberstaufen) is not a very difficult river to negotiate, it offers challenges for groups with all levels of fitness: For the more athletic participants a trip on the river in 2-man trekking boats ("River Riders" and Canadian canoes) is ideal whereas for the less skilled ones those big 8-10-man rafts with guides will be used. The equipment and boat types are identical to those used on the Bregenzerach. Here comes the Iller team variant: Working in small teams you will build your own high-tech rafts from individual components. You will then ride these rafts down the river and carry out various team fun tasks.

Canyoning

Soft Canyoning - a splendid adventurous hike through a mountain river: The outfit consists of a full wet suit and a helmet. We will explore the path through the river, with the water sometimes ankle-deep and sometimes waist-high. You will crawl over tree-trunks, climb over rocks/boulders, jump into deep pools, etc. The program for canyoning for advanced includes adventurous abseiling activities in rugged gorges.

Soapbox - Formula 1 & Event Barn

english7
Traditional, original – a great atmosphere in and around our Event Barn near Oberstaufen in the Allgäu. Our Barn is located on a beautiful hill, surrounded by grass and trees – the perfect location for team activities and a special way of team training. Welcoming of the participants by experienced team coaches. After we built the teams we will do a little briefing: Every team chooses their coaches. He is the one, who makes the competition rules (sequence, number of repetitions, time penalty, pit stops a. s. o.). At the same time every team works on the following projects: Designing the own logo, designing the racing overalls and building up the pit stop. Afterwards the teams start building up a high-tech cart (racing car) with special material, and we will take the time. After the rating by the coaches, the exciting „Final-Race“ will start: Cart-race in a skillfulness parcours with single- and team rating as well as pit stops (change the wheels and get new gas).
During the whole afternoon the participants can help themselves out at the coffee, cake or snacks and soda buffet.

The equipment contains:
  • 10 soap cars (2 from each colour blue, silver, yellow, green and white)
  • Racing Overalls
  • Helmets
  • Quads/Four wheelers (which pull up the soapboxes from the finish to the start)
  • Tents (used as pit stops)
  • Material for the team design of the pits and the overalls (for example: colors, brushes, pens ...)
  • Briefing the participants (Information about the order of events: Designing the pits, building up the pits, build the soapboxes, soapbox race)
  • Goal: Organisation, teamwork, skillfulness, coordination
The team-exercise will end with a reflexion, either as entertaining competition or as team encouraged initiative.
At the end there will be a Formel-1-awards-ceremony with a bottle of champagne. The criterions we will estimate after are: fastest racer, fastest team with the least penalties, fastest pit-stop, and most creative team.

What to bring

Rafting/canyoning/adventure course: Swimming trunks or bathing suit (to be worn under your clothes); a second pair of trainers with non-slip soles (to wear in the river); a towel, a bag (to transport the dry change of clothes on the bus to the exit point), camera (we like taking photos of you at the entry point and during the break). For the hike: mountain boots for hiking, raingear, maybe backpack, second T-shirt)
